Kirstine comes to us with considerable life experience. In 2001 she obtained a position with Australasian Correctional Management and progressed within a short time to a managerial role, on a consultant basis, at a number of detention facilities in Australia. In 2002 Kirstine obtained a qualification in Crisis Management (Hostage and Negotiation) through the South Australian Police. In 2003 she worked as a consultant at a maximum security facility in South Africa with a view to improving policy and work procedures. Kirstine’s focus was on the welfare and security of detainees and she developed communication and negotiation skills which remain an asset in her developing legal career.
From 2003-2005 Kirstine changed direction and worked with Salvation Army Employment Plus as an employment consultant and supervisor, working with clients with significant barriers to employment. In 2006, she began her legal studies at Charles Darwin University and graduated in 2010. Kirstine commenced working at Paul Alvaro Lawyers in 2011 as a legal secretary and progressed to the position of paralegal in July 2012, solicitor in April 2013 and Associate in 2016. She has gained considerable experience in relation to motor vehicle accident, public liability and workers compensation claims and has contributed greatly to the development of precedents and procedures following recent legislative changes.
